Harris Stowe State University

The Harris-Stowe Wellness Clinic was started in 2015 and was made in partnership between IFM Community Medicine and Harris-Stowe State University operating on Wednesday afternoons. HSSU is a historically black university in St. Louis that serves between 1,500-2,000 students every year. Therefore, most of the patients in the clinic range from eighteen to twenty-two years old which makes this location unique for IFM. The clinic provides wellness exams and checkups as well as sick visits for the students at no direct cost. Many of the patients also come in as a response to stress due to the trustful rapport developed between the students and our clinicians emphasizing our desire for creating medicine that is truly community based.
