SouthSide Early Childhood Center
The SouthSide Early Childhood Center Clinic was founded in 2012 and was made in partnership between IFM Community Medicine and SouthSide Early Childhood Center, operating on Tuesday morning. The center works with children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, along with their families, to navigate critical development periods to achieve “school readiness.” Children can attend through tuition or through the Head Start program. The Nurse Practitioner on site provides services required for enrollment in early childhood programs including physicals, and screenings for hearing, vision, hemoglobin, and lead at no cost to the families. Acute care is also provided as needed for the enrolled children, especially those of low-income. The need was identified by SSECC because parents were experiencing a great deal of difficulty getting their child to care while balancing the requirements of their jobs.
